7.5t & Luton Van Driver

We are looking for a driver to join the Romford depot. You will be behind the wheel of our Luton and 7.5 tonne vehicles on a mix of house and office removals, same-day courier runs and pallet distribution work. London driving is a skill in itself, and the people who do well here are the ones who plan the route, read the access before they commit to it and never rush a reverse.

This is not a drop-and-go job. Our drivers are part of the crew: you will be carrying, wrapping and loading alongside everyone else, and you are often the person the customer talks to first.

What the job involves

• Driving Luton and 7.5t vehicles on removals, courier and pallet work across London and the surrounding counties
• Daily walkaround checks, recording defects and keeping the vehicle clean, legal and roadworthy
• Loading and securing the vehicle so nothing shifts in transit, and unloading at the other end
• Working with the crew on packing, wrapping, dismantling and carrying
• Handling paperwork accurately: delivery notes, proof of delivery, timesheets and fuel receipts
• Keeping the office updated on delays, access problems and anything that changes the plan
• Being the first point of contact for the customer on site, and representing us well while you are there

What we are looking for

• A full UK driving licence held for at least two years, with no more than six penalty points
• Confidence driving a 3.5t Luton in central London traffic and tight residential streets
• The right to work in the UK
• Physical fitness: the role involves regular lifting, carrying and stairs
• A polite, unhurried manner with customers, often on a stressful day for them
• Reliability on early starts, and honesty about anything that goes wrong

Helpful, but not essential

• A C1 or C category licence with a valid Driver CPC and tachograph card
• Previous removals, multi-drop or pallet network experience
• A moffett, forklift or manual handling certificate
• Good working knowledge of London congestion, ULEZ and LEZ zones and loading restrictions
